Macdonald on the
Podium Monday November 8, 2010
Shane Macdonald brought his Toowoomba Steering
and Suspension sponsored Commodore home in 2nd place on
Saturday night after starting from 5th on the grid for the 20 lap
final. Shane worked the high line to his advantage getting
into second position on the last lap. The night didnt start
off to well with Shane having to replace the CV joint in the
tailshaft before the first heat. Shane started from position 3 in
the first heat and despite showing good car speed was unable to make
a pass. Luke Hollyman won the heat followed by Ferguson and
Macdonald. Shane managed a 5th in his second heat and was able
to make the most of his front row start for the final heat. Shane
taking the win ahead of Mark Ferguson and Darren White. The
final saw Greg Worling start from position 1, followed by Robert
Trapp, Mark Ferguson, Dennis Bullpitt, Shane and Todd Doyle rounding
out the top 6. The race got underway and Shane settled into position
4 behind Mark Ferguson. After a few laps Shane was feeling confident
in the car and started to run the high line in order to find a way
past Fergie. This allowed Bullpitt in on th e action which resulted in a 3 way battle
between Ferguson, Bullpitt and Macdonald. Macdonald eventually
finding a way around the outside into position 3. With 5 laps to go
a stoppage was brought on to clear some debris from the track. This
allowing the field to bunch up and giving shane one last
chance to move up the order. Shane ran the high line again as the
track was starting to slick off a little, Shane managing to make a
pass on Trappy on the last lap to come home in second position
behind Greg Worling. Mark Ferguson Crossed the line in second
followed by Trappy and Dennis Bullpitt. Shane would especially like
to thank Matt Burke, Trappy, Darren Ciesolka and Dad for their
help in changing the Cv Joint in the tail shaft and the Bottom
control arm before the
final.
