Macdonald
Brings home another podium finish
Sunday November 29, 2009
Shane
Macdonald last night headed back to Brisbane International Speedway
to try to win his second feature race of the season. Macdonald was
looking the goods but was unable to make a pass stick for the win.
Mark Ferguson was the eventual winner followed by Macdonald and
Quintin Clarke.
The first heat saw Macdonald start from position 3. On the start
Macdonald managed to slip into second place behind Steve Price.
Macdonald managing to reel
in
price but not enough to make a pass. at the end of the race it was
price then Macdonald. The second heat was to see Macdonald to start
from position 5, but the car in front of Macdonald never showed so
Macdonald started from position 3. Macdonald slipped into 3rd off
the start behind Quintin Clarke and Geoff Hayes. A stoppage half way
through caused a restart, the lights went out and we were all ready
for the start but the green light never came on, Jacobi took off in
his VE commodore not realising the race hadn't started and narrowly
missed Fergie but couldn't pull it up in time and ran up the back of
MacDonald's car causing some panel damage and a bit of bar work
damage. The steward had no control of the lights and whoever was
operating the lights decided that we were going to start the race.
This causing un necessary damage to my and Jacobi's car. The race
got underway and Macdonald managed to pick up one spot to finish
2nd.
Macdonald started from position 3 in the final behind Steve Price
and Quintin Clarke. On the first start Price nearly lost it in front
of Macdonald, Macdonald slamming the brakes on which made the right
front brake lock on. A restart was called, Macdonald heading infield
to have his car seen to saw the right front wheel not turning at
all. Macdonald almost considering retiring decided to try his luck
and proceeded back to his position hoping that the brake would free
itself, luckily it did. After a few tries at getting the race
started, Macdonald headed straight for the high line which is where
he loves it, Setting him self up after a couple of laps zoomed
straight past 1st and 2nd place on the outside only to run wide into
the next turn and loose his positions, by this time everyone else
had Macdonald's idea of running the
high line. Macdonald and Fergie managing to get past Quintin Clarke
to be in 1st and 2nd positions. Macdonald trying everything he had
to make the pass on fergie but was unable to as the low line had
gone really slick. Fergie eventually taking the win from
Macdonald,
Quintin Clarke, Garry Maroske, Royce Ernst, Peter Gray, Jeremy Beer
and Lucas Gibson. Macdonald really happy with how the car was
running is now looking forward the next meeting at Charlton Raceway
on the 12th December. Other Toowoomba local Robert Trapp having a
night he would rather forget, hitting the wall in the first heat,
spinning in the second heat while challenging for the lead and
breaking the rack in the final possibly due to the first race
accident. Darren Ciesolka also ending his night early by hitting the
fence and breaking the rack in the second heat . Royce Ernst
and Peter Gray both finishing a credible 5th and 6th respectivley.
