Macdonald
brings home
another podium finish
Sunday November 8, 2009
Macdonald racing proved they are
a force to be reckoned with last night as both Shane and Nathan have
their cars on the track bringing home a 2nd and a third for Nathan
and Shane respectivley in the final.
Macdonald
started from position 2 in his first heat on a very greasy track.
Macdonald got the jump on the start and led from start to finish.
Heat two saw Macdonald supposed to start from position 4, but the
car that was supposed to start from position 2 did not show, so
Shane slipped into 2nd for the start. David Jacobi got the jump as
Macdonald put chase. The track by this time was starting to look
nice, but there was a wet spot half way through turn 3 and 4. Most
cars were strugling with the conditions. Macdonald made an
uncharacteristic mistake the same time as Jacobi had slowed and
macdonald ended up into the side of jacobi's VE Commodore. Macdonald
got past Jacobi at that point and went on to win the race, however
as Macdonald had made an illegal pass was put back two positions.
Heat three saw Macdonald start from position 5. The track was really
good at this stage and macdonald was able to bring the car home in
4th position.
For the
final Shane started from 5th while brother Nathan had a great run in
his heats to be able to start off the front row beside Robert Trapp,
with David Jacobi out of 3, followed by Ashley Barron, Shane
Macdonald and Greg Worling. As the lights went green for the 20-lap
feature race Nathan raced Trapp into turn one, but made an error and
drifted back to 4th, then coming into turn three Nathan was hit and
headed to the wall, luckily the mud thrown up to the wall from all
the racing
cushioning
any impact with the wall. Nathan continued on but had fallen back
further to 7th place, meanwhile Shane had made the most of his
brothers misfortune picking up valuable positions. After
settling into the race Shane found himself in second position as
Greg Worling was retired onto the infield and Trapp was out in
front. Barron and the two Macdonald brothers put on a great display
of racing, fighting for position. Shane slipped past Barron into
2nd with Nathan following suit. Shane and Nathan then fought for
2nd place, swapping positions and dicing through lapped traffic.
Robert Trapp took the win with Nathan crossing the line half a car
length ahead oh his brother Shane.
