3rd for
Macdonald on the Mountain
Wednesday
May 13, 2009
After
getting itchy feet, Shane decided to get an engine together and go
do some more Racing.
So with
the help of Dad, Nathan and Dale Brennan (from the Speed Shop Gympie
PH 54827362) we managed to get the engine together in time to race
at Gympie's Mothar Mountain on Saturday night.
The team were really happy with how well the engine went together
and with the figures on the dyno, Shane was hoping for a good run on
the Mountain. The first heat got underway and Shane made his way
into 2nd place chasing Mark Raymont, until on the last lap Raymonts
car came to an abrupt stop handing the win to Macdonald.
The second heat had alot of the locals in it and proved to be a hard
race as Shane was on the pace but unable to make a pass on anyone
coming home in 4th place.

The third heat saw a repeat of heat 2 with Macdonald coming home in
4th place again. Macdonald happy with the car except for some
problems with the brakes which was making the car hard to pull up at
the hairpin. Some minor changes were done before the final and then
the car was ready for the final where Shane would start out of
position 3.
Aiden Raymont started off pole with Jamie Omeara beside him followed
by Macdonald, Aaron Broadbridge, Mark Raymont, and Troy Ware in his
EL falcon which set the lap record earlier in the night. The feature
got underway and shane slotted into 3rd postion, a few laps in and
Macdonald was challenging for 2nd while Troy ware was trying to find
a way past Macdonald, Ware found a way past Macdonald. Ware ,
Macdonald and Mark Raymont all made their way past Omeara. Then the
effects of Mark Raymonts front bumper were being felt by Macdonald
coming into the hairpin for the next few laps, Raymont eventually
making his way past. Troy Ware's run was about to come to an end as
his car was getting quite hot with alot of steam coming from his
car, eventually pulling out, which left Macdonald
chasing Mark Raymont till the end crossing the line for a well
deserved 3rd place. The new engine goes well and with a bit
different gearing, Macdonald is hoping that he will be able to take
it to the locals at Gympie and give them a run for their money.
Shane would like to thank
Dad,
Nathan, Keryn (My wife for letting me spend the
hours on the car) and a big thanks to Dale Brennan from The Speed
Shop Gympie
(PH
54827362) for his help
in developing the engine. His help
is Muchly appreciated. Shane is now getting ready for a run this
weekend at Brisbane then is getting ready to make the treck to
Cairns for the QLD Title on the June long weekend.
