Another sad end
Sunday March 8,  2009
Saturday night saw the running of round 4 of the G & W Racing series at Charlton Raceway.

Shane was hoping for a good run after failing to finish last meeting. Heat 1 saw Shane start from position 4. The race got underway. A restart on the first lap saw Shane start out of position 2, the race got underway and the battle was on with the 2 Cooroy auto Wreckers Boys in Mark Raymont and Aidan Raymont battle it out with Shane for the lead, swapping positions a couple of times, by the end of the 8 laps, it was Mark Raymont followed home by Macdonald.

Heat 2 saw Macdonald start from position 5, Macdonald made his way through the field and come home in third place. Macdonald was happy with how the car was handling and was looking forward to the last heat.

Macdonald started from 2 in the third and final heat. Macdonald got the jump on Lee Steffens off the start and led from flag to flag. With a 2nd, 3rd and a 1st, Macdonald knew that he would be up there in the points. Shane then found out that he had tied highest point scorer with Steve Price.

The feature was shaping up to be a good one with Steve Price off 1, Macdonald out of 2, Pammenter out of 3, Trapp out of 4. With 3 local boys in the top 4 and with Peter Gray and Dennis Bullpitt a little bit further back in the pack, it was looking good for the local cars. The race got underway and after the first lap Macdonald found himself in 3rd position with Price leading, Pammenter in 2nd , Macdonald in 3rd, Swarbrooke in 4th and Trapp in 5th. Macdonald dropped back to 5th as Swarbrooke and Aidan Raymont made their way past. Macdonald settled in and held onto 5th for a while, then Peter Gray made his way through the field and was battling it out with Macdonald for a couple of laps. Until Swarbrooke ended up in the back straight wall bringing on the yellows. It was Price, Followed by Pammenter, Raymont, Macdonald and so on. The race got under way again with Pammenter trying to make a pass on Price for the lead on a slick track, saw him spin bringing on the yellows. The race got underway again with Pammenter sent to the rear for causing the stoppage, Price led the field away until steering failure saw Price end up in turn 1 wall, bringing on another restart, with Raymont leading with Macdonald following waiting for a mistake. The race wore on with Macdonald chasing Raymont until 2 laps from the end where Engine troubles ended Macdonald's race, Macdonald coming to a rest in turn 2 while they kept the race going with Macdonald sitting in a vulnerable position unable to move. Macdonald Bracing himself for a big shunt up the rear, luckily everyone managed to get by without hitting him. Macdonald later finding that a broken camshaft or timing chain was the cause of Macdonald's engine failure, ending Macdonald's Season. Aidan Raymont went on to take a deserved win ahead of Mark Ferguson, Quinton Clarke, Adrian Stott and Toowoomba Local  Dennis Bullpitt happy to have finished the final in 5th Position  after his last outing at Lismore.

Macdonald is going to take some time and get the car ready for next season where there will be a Mack Attack on the Modified Production scene as Nathan is looking at having his car on the track to bring Macdonald racing back to a two car team.
