Macdonald fails to finish
Monday
January 12, 2009

Sunday night (11th January 2009), saw the
Modified productions back again to have another run at Charlton
Raceway as support for round 14 of the World Series Sprint cars.
Heat one saw Shane start out of position 5 on a slightly greasy
track. Shane fell beck a spot or two making sure he brought the car
home in one piece, While the Brisbane flyer of Darran Lester made
his way into the lead to take the win.
Heat two saw Shane start from position 4, as the race got underway
it was a 3 wide battle for the first lap or so With Macdonald, Peter
Gray and Adrian Stott, Shane managed to get his nose in front but
pushed wide through the turn allowing Gray, Lester and Stott
through. Shane managed to get back past Stott but couldn't find a
way past the flying Darran Lester in his well presented Falcon. Gray
took the win , Followed by Lester and Macdonald.
The
Final saw Lester off pole, Followed by Gray, Pammenter, Swarbrooke,
Macdonald, Ferguson, Trapp, Stott and Ciesiolka's. We were the race
before the Sprint car final so we copped a bit of water on the high
line and no time to pack it down. So we just had to race with what
we had. In the first corner, Shane had backed of to avoid hitting
Rocket, and in the process got a push from behind which made him run
wide allowing Trappy up the inside, which then made Macdonald on the
high line into turn three. Macdonald getting caught out by the water
on the high line and backing the car into the wall which brought the
front end around and into the wall also, damaging the right front
suspension and right rear bar work making it impossible for
Macdonald to continue. The race got underway and it Was Lester in
the BA Falcon took the lead with Pammenter following suite until
Pammenter tried the high line and got caught out by the water still
up there, dropping back to fourth which let the quiet achiever
Robert Trapp into second spot. Trapp reeled in Lester and made a
pass up the back straight and into turn 3 the 2 cars rubbing wheels
which ultimately led to Lesters steering rack failing. Trapp went on
to take the win followed by the ever consistent Rodney Pammenter in
an underpowered Commodore awaiting a new heartbeat followed by
Brisbane Driver Mark Ferguson. Shane now has a bit of work ahead of
him for the next meeting at Charlton on the 14th February.
