Macdonald reels in new year with a win
Sunday
January 4, 2009
Saturday
night (31st December 2008), saw Macdonald Racing head out to
Charlton Raceway for one last hit out for the 2008 year, Shane
hoping to get his first win for the season and end the 2008 year on
a high.
The first heat saw Shane start from 9th
position on the grid, on a slightly greasy track, Shane just wanted
to finish the race without damaging the car. After a few laps Shane
found a good racing line and was able to come home in 7th
position.
Heat 2 saw Shane start from pole position, as we
went on the track, I saw the dreaded water truck, luckily they only
gave the track a light sprinkle of water and after a few laps of
packing down the track the race got underway. Macdonald got the jump
on the start but Grother on the outside had a better line and took
the lead, Then Todd Doyle got through which put Shane back to third,
Shane settled in and caught Grother and made the pass to come home
in second.
Heat three saw Shane start from position 6, as
the race got underway, Shane made the most of the start and was
running 3rd after the first lap, until the yellows as
Darran Lester was facing the wrong way. On the restart it was Peter
Gray, Doyle and Macdonald holding down the top 3 spots, after a few
laps Doyle had pulled in suffering engine troubles which left
Macdonald the job of reeling in Gray, Shane was running the high
line and pulled in Gray and on the second last lap Macdonald found
his way up the inside of Gray to take the win from Gray, Grother,
Pammenter, Maroske, Lester and Ciesolka.

Shane’s heat results gave him enough points to
start from Pole in the feature alongside Peter Gray, followed by
Pammenter, Maroske, Lester, Grother and Ciesolka. The race got under
way and Macdonald led from start to finish with a great battle going
on behind him for second place between Gray and Pammenter, Racing
side by side for about 8 laps, Pammenter eventually, made the pass
for second and Gray came home in third, followed by Grother, Lester
and Maroske.
Shane would like to thank, Dad, Nathan, and Keryn
for their help and also to Rodney Pammenter for some car setup
advice.
