Memorial

Saturday
night saw the running of the Ian Moncrieff Memorial at Charlton
Raceway. Shane never had a great start to the night after
starting off the front row for the first heat and being the first
event out, the track caught everyone off guard as they all slid up
into the fence in turn one, Macdonald hit the concrete wall hard and
bent the lower control arm. Macdonald restarted on the front
row but fell back through the pack to finish 8th whilst struggling
to steer the car.
Heat two Macdonald
started out of position 7, and after slight contact with another car
Macdonald once again bent the bottom control arm and then struggled
with the car falling to 9th place.
The car was repaired and
a few more set-up changes made. Shane started from position 3
in the final heat, Macdonald held down third place behind Steve
Price and Aidan Raymont but pushed up towards the wall in turn 4
which allowed Brett Baxter past. Macdonald went on to finish
in 4th place.
Qualifying in 13th place
for the 25 lap final, Macdonald had a job ahead of him. Shane
pressed on and made his way up to 8th place until a restart saw
Shane put back behind Brett Baxter who broke a driveshaft. On
the restart Baxter couldn't go anywhere which blocked the cars
behind him and put Macdonald back about 10 car lengths. Shane
made up the ground and moved his way past Darran Lester. Shane
moved into 6th place behind Robert Trapp when Aidan Raymont come to
a halt bringing on the yellows. With a couple laps to go
Macdonald held onto 5th place to finish behind Trappy. Steve
Price won every race he competed in taking out the final with Mark
Raymont in 2nd and Gavin Fletcher 3rd.
Shane's next race will
be Brisbane International Speedway this weekend the 8th November in
support of the World Series Sprintcars.
