Shane Macdonald contested Round five of the 2007/2008 G&W Racing Modified Production Series held at Gympie Speedway on the 15th March.  Sitting in fifth place in the point standings, Macdonald was keen to continue a strong run to maintain or advance up the ladder.

Starting out of fourth in his first heat, Shane Macdonald moved into second place early on and put chase to Aidan Raymont.  Macdonald reeling in the Queensland Champion until Macdonald ran wide and hit the wall up the back straight and bending the bottom suspension arm.  Macdonald was able to continue and finish second.

Heat two saw Shane start from seventh place, and moved into fifth behind Steve Price.  Macdonald couldn't find a way past and had to settle for fifth.

The final heat Macdonald started from position two beside Steve Thomsen.  Macdonald drifted back to third on the start after a light shower of rain passed before the race.  Aidan Raymont and Shane Macdonald went around the outside of Steve Thomsen up the front straight to finish first and second respectively.

The night was plagued with light showers, but fortunately was never enough to stop the racing.  A shower passed as the cars rolled out for the A-main, making the first few laps a little greasy.  Shane qualified in seventh place for the thirty lap final, as the field settled down Shane found himself consolidated in seventh place until a mistake saw Michael Hally moved past dropping Macdonald back to eighth.  Nine laps into the event and Macdonald was looking for a way around Michael Hally and Steve Price.  Both cars ahead come together in the hairpin and Macdonald got a little too close and resulted in a slowly deflating right front tyre.  A stoppage at the same time saw Macdonald pull infield ending his night.

The next stop for Macdonald Racing will be the Grand Finale for the 2007/2008 G&W Racing Queensland Modified Production Series at Brisbane International Speedway on March 1st.
