DNF for Macdonald, but 8th in series
Sunday March 11, 2007
The final round of the HDS Modified Production Series wound up at Charlton Raceway on Saturday night (March 10).  Shane come into the event sitting in 7th place on the points table.  After seven gruelling rounds (and one roll over!), Shane dropped one place to finish the HDS Series in 8th place.  Shane was wrapped with the effort himself and the team have done in what was his first full season of racing in Modified Production.

Heat one saw Macdonald start from position eight, as started to move forward he found a way past Michael Hally and into 5th spot, only to see Macdonald run high in turn four getting caught out in the wet track which let Hally and Travis Barron back through.  Shane hung on to finish 7th.

Macdonald started towards the front out of 3 in the second heat.  Shane struggled with the rough track drifted high after running through several ruts which saw him drift back to 6th.  Macdonald started to re-gain control of the car but had to settle for 6th.

The third and final heat came after a quick track grade.  Shane started from position four and seemed to have a better handle on the car as slipped past Steve Price to snatch third place.  Gary Maroske went on to win the heat with Darryl Etherden in 2nd closely followed by Macdonald in 3rd.

Shane Qualified from 15th in the feature race.  Shane had 25 laps to try and get closer to the front, as the green lights come on Macdonald went to work at the steering wheel on the #27 VS Commodore.  Shane had moved his way into 10th place, avoiding several incidents which unfolded in front of him.  Unfortunately Macdonald finish the race on the back of a tow truck after contact between himself and Aiden Raymont which tore the left hand strut out of the car.  Raymont was black flagged for the incident.  In what could have been a solid result, Macdonald watched the rest of the race on the infield, as fellow racer Robert Trapp drove superbly to win the race.  Shane and the team congratulate Trappy on a job well done.

Shane will now have to wait until Easter (7th & 8th April), to see if he can topple the field in what will be a fiercely fought battle with some great prize money on offer.
