Sunday
December 31, 2006
Shane
was forced out of the feature race at Brisbane Speedway on Saturday
night when the right rear tyre popped off the rim whilst running
5th. Macdonald had qualified out of 9th in the feature and was
dicing with Gary Maroske.
Macdonald's first heat saw him start out of 2nd place, as the race
got underway, Macdonald went straight to the lead. Shane led for
several laps when Mark Ferguson got up the inside down the back
straight, Shane stayed on the outside around turn 4 but the car
caught a rut an lifted onto two wheels. Macdonald had to back off
quickly to get back down to ground. Shane dropped back to 3rd
place, which is where he finished.
Heat
number two found Macdonald at the rear of the field in 8th.
Macdonald made a few outside moves to come through and finish 5th.
After changing the setup slightly, the car was feeling better as the
night went on. Macdonald qualified out of position 9 for the final.
Shane
started moving through the field as he found his way up to 5th
place, and dicing with Gary Maroske. Macdonald was pushing the high
line, trying to find a way past Maroske, but while doing so popped
the right rear tyre off the rim, which forced Macdonald out of the
race.
Robert
Trapp was leading the race for half race distance until Mark
Ferguson made his way past and into the lead. Ferguson won the
feature event with Trapp finishing right behind him in 2nd with
Steve Downes in 3rd.
Shane
will be looking to make ammends tonight at Charlton Raceway as he
takes on 5 other cars in a Holden VS Ford Modified Production
Challenge, with Shane, Robert Trapp and Rodney Pammenter driving for
Holden and Dennis Bullpitt, Royce Ernst and Steve Price driving for
Ford.
