The ups and downs of
Speedway
Posted: 28/09/03
Saturday night saw the
team travel to Brisbane Speedway, with some having more luck than
others. Heat one saw Shane out of position 2, and Nathan out of
position 4. Once the race got under way, the field stood as Shane
2nd, and Nathan right behind him in 3rd. After chasing Shane all
the way, after six laps, Nathan pulled out of the race, as some
unhealthy grinding noises were heard from underneath the bonnet.
The race finished with Shane Hollyman 1st, Shane Macdonald 2nd, and
Billy Tronc 3rd.
Nathan was now out for the night with a suspected blown engine.
Heat 2 saw Shane Mac start from the front row again, this time
pulling away from the field to take the chequered flag easily. Once
again, Shane stretched his lead out to about 20 car lengths, but
with about 2 Laps to go, Macdonald broke an axle, but his lead was
big enough for Macdonald to just roll over the line in first
position. Nathan's car is currently being dismantled, ready for a
new engine, hoping for the car to be ready for the practice in a
week.
